The White Dog Café occupies two connected row homes in the University City district. The café is not only a restaurant but a social activist. All ingredients are purchased from local, organic, and humane farming establishments. All electricity used for the restaurant is generated by wind power, and 20% of the restaurant’s income goes to supporting non-profit organizations that share its values. The menu is contemporary American, but incorporates a number of influences from our immigrant culture. Normal cuisine features beef, pork, chicken, fish, and lamb, as well as a variety of fruits and vegetables. The menu may change by season, however, depending on what is available.

The café hosts a number of events throughout the year. Many guest speakers come to speak about social issues. “Block parties” highlighting different cultures are also common in the warm summer months. You can visit the White Dog Café website to find out event schedules.

The Café is open 11:30am-1:00am Monday to Saturday, and 10:30am to 12:00am on Sunday. The piano bar is lively from 8:00pm-12:00am on Fridays and Saturdays, and during Sunday brunch from 11:30pm-2:30pm.
